I installed Openstack Ocata on 2 nodes (Controller and compute node) using VirtualBox. Following the official documentation.

the both nodes are CentOS 7.

For each node I have I have 2 interfaces :

*enp0s3: Host Only (The management interface) : Controller 192.168.56.101 and Compute1: 192.168.56.104

*enp0s8: NAT (Used as the provider interface) to grant internet access. 10.0.3.15 for both (given by default by virtual box).

The installation went fine, I managed to troubleshot the bugs I had. But when I try to create a provider network, I have issues, the controller lose connection.

The private network : 192.168.56.0/24 with 192.168.56.1 as a gateway. The provider network (supposed to be external) : 10.0.3.0/24 with 10.0.3.2 as a gateway.

I created to a router to link them, and attached an instance to the private network. I can ping and ssh (via a floating ip associated) to the instance no problem. but I cannot reach the internet neither from the controller node nor from the instance.

I dont have a strong knowledge on the network field and I ve spent a large of time trying find a solution, but without success.

During the installation, i choose the 2nd option for network service and I put :

[linux_bridge]
physical_interface_mappings = provider:enp0s8

on the /etc/neutron/plugins/ml2/linuxbridge_agent.ini

the ifconfig command return this before creating the provider network :

[root@controller ~]# ifconfig
enp0s3: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST>  mtu 1500
        inet 192.168.56.101  netmask 255.255.255.0  broadcast 192.168.56.255
        inet6 fe80::bb80:6bbb:64ac:fa27  prefixlen 64  scopeid 0x20<link>
        ether 08:00:27:0b:87:ee  txqueuelen 1000  (Ethernet)
        RX packets 2721  bytes 825982 (806.6 KiB)
        RX errors 0  dropped 0  overruns 0  frame 0
        TX packets 2248  bytes 432741 (422.5 KiB)
        TX errors 0  dropped 0 overruns 0  carrier 0  collisions 0

enp0s8: flags=4099<UP,BROADCAST,MULTICAST>  mtu 1500
        inet 10.0.3.15  netmask 255.255.255.0  broadcast 10.0.3.255
        inet6 fe80::ff32:1706:ef13:6d36  prefixlen 64  scopeid 0x20<link>
        ether 08:00:27:15:bf:3a  txqueuelen 1000  (Ethernet)
        RX packets 18820  bytes 25653865 (24.4 MiB)
        RX errors 0  dropped 0  overruns 0  frame 0
        TX packets 2241  bytes 219225 (214.0 KiB)
        TX errors 0  dropped 0 overruns 0  carrier 0  collisions 0

but when I create the network, it loses the IP (10.0.3.15) and I lose internet access.

Could you guys help solve this issue, or if you have any gateway to figure out what is really going on with my environment.

Thank you very much.
