How neutron behaves during VM migration? I mean how neutron configures network interface after migrating a VM from one compute node to another?

Hi AmirV,

As far as I get and have tested, today, after nova scheduler knows the exact target compute node, it performs the migration, then Neutron creates a new port and its binding right after the VM is ready at the target (post live migration).

There are some enhancements which should be fully ready for Pike, which aim to maintain two port bindings (one of them inactive) to cover rollback and other scenarios.

More details here:

Let me know if you need more details and I can try to get them from the right people during this week's Summit.

Thank you very much. I want it deeper. I mean what happens to TCP connections to the first port, etc.?
