I have just rebuilt one of our OpenStack environments (CentOS 6.5 Havana) and I am having adding images to glance. I am running this command:

glance image-create --name RackerJoe --disk-format=qcow2 --container-format=bare --file centos60_x86_64.qcow2

However so far the command has not returned. The /var/log/glance/registry.log log shows the following snippet as soon as the command is entered:

2014-01-15 09:05:38.348 2097 INFO urllib3.connectionpool [-] Starting new HTTP connection (1): 192.168.3.16
2014-01-15 09:05:38.441 2097 INFO glance.registry.api.v1.images [d47b177f-813a-4ea2-8b29-96b91aaf43e6 964dd498645941859f2fa4cb993f3dbf 20d27b1173c34af68cec5fb564370700] Successfully created image None

Eventually the command does time out with this error:

Error communicating with http://192.168.3.16:9292 timed out

IP address is available, IPtables allows the connection on that port number, both glance-api & glance-registry are running. Telnet connects to that IP/Port without issue.

I grabbed another image and tried to import that and I get the same issue.

I also rebuilt the entire environment as Grizzly and the same issue is present.

can you try running the command with --debug option and give me the output ? Also debug logs in glance-api should also help here. Can you run the command lsof -i:9292 ? what does it return ?

The only thing (apart from qpid errors which we are not suing (we are using RabbitMQ)) in the Glance api.log is '2014-01-15 14:12:12.871 2108 INFO urllib3.connectionpool [-] Starting new HTTP connection (1): 192.168.3.16' Output of the command with -d option is: http://paste.openstack.org/show/61264/ Output of lsof is: http://paste.openstack.org/show/61261/

Yes keystone is running, here's the lsof output again: http://paste.openstack.org/show/61334/

http://paste.openstack.org/show/61334/ says page not found. Can you try pasting in http://paste.openstack.org/show/61264/ only ? I strongly suspect some configuration issue here. Can you also paste glance configurations ?

From I have known, 9292 is for glance, and 5000 is for keystone. I stop my glance registry service, and got your same error msg.

Please make sure your glance service has already started by using "service openstack-glance-registry status" or "service glance-registry status".
