I have OVA file from VMWare that I need to launch to my OpenStack environment. I extracted the OVA file so I can get the vmdk disk, I saw 2 of them, disk1 and disk2, I load both to glance.

I launch disk 1 but presented me an error on the console image description

The VMDK disk has multiple partition and I think that causes this error, or I may be wrong and it's entirely a different issue.

Hello,

It's best practise to convert VMDK to qcow2. Use qemu-tools for that. (Also availible on windows).

On linux it would be like 1. apt-get install qemu-utils 2. qemu-img convert -O qcow2 path-to-disk1.flat.vmdk path-to-output-disk1.qemu 3. glance image-create --disk-format qcow2 --file path-to-output-disk1.qemu --is-public False --name disk1 --container-format bare 3. or upload via GUI

Tried qemu-tools but unfortunately it's not working.

virt-v2v works flawlessly with OVA, we have a working image now from OVA.
