Hi All,

I'm trying to setup OpenStack Newton using the official https://docs.openstack.org/newton/install-guide-ubuntu/ (document). We have 2 servers running for this setup. One is the controller node while the other we have swift running. All the setup steps were done as per the docs. Now at the verification https://docs.openstack.org/project-install-guide/object-storage/draft/verify.html (stage) executed the following command:

swift stat

which throws the error:

Account HEAD failed: http://controller:8080/v1/AUTH_ba48258b3d0640d5af29b0750bb56be8 (http://controller:8080/v1/AUTH_ba4825...) 503 Service Unavailable Failed Transaction ID: txa5298e445e7748ae942cc-0058db4177

Any idea what might have gone wrong ? P.S: I have done this setup around 5-6 times and still this error persists. Help needed.

Did you check if the service is up and running? And whether there's anything listening on port 8080? Is the name resolvable (i.e. "controller")?

Hi,

1- check the three files /etc/swift/account,container and object- (server.conf) and the port configured. You can confirm with doing telnet host 6002, 6001 aand 6000. If one of these fails then the service will be unavailable and will give this error.

2- Check the /etc/swift/proxy-server.conf if it is configured properly.

Thanks
