I'm performing a packstack allinone as below:

sudo yum install -y http://rdo.fedorapeople.org/rdo-release.rpm
sudo yum install -y openstack-packstack expect

/usr/bin/packstack --allinone

The allinone setup is inside a virtualbox guest image. The guest image has a X11 GUI, and I'm hoping for it to be self contained so that a user can login to the guest and from the guest they can access their openstack instances.

However, I've noticed that the packstack install attempts to setup a bridge for connectivity outside of the virtualbox guest:

br-ex Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 42:80:2A:44:23:4A
          inet addr:172.24.4.225 Bcast:0.0.0.0 Mask:255.255.255.240

Question: What do I need to do so that the public network is contained within the virtualbox guest? I.e. does the guest need a DHCP configured and a new network configured for the public network?

What do you mean by "contained within the virtualbox guest"? As long as there are no physical interfaces joined to br-ex, you should have what you want, I think.
