I am trying to install ceilometer in my two node set up of newton openstack. I get this error : ERROR ceilometer AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'find' when i run the command ceilometer-upgrade --skip-metering-database on my controller node.

and I accidentally deleted the ceilometer directory from my controller node so I copied the ceilometer directory from the compute node and pasted it in /etc/ceilometer location. I hope the error is not due to this.

Please help me resolve this error.

@rvinkovic, @ShubhamMeshram : Cause Gnocchiis a dedicated product its docs located here - http://gnocchi.xyz/install.html

I suggest to open a bz against ceilometer to get it fixed. As a workaround U can create a metering db and remove it later manually.

Hello,

It is good to purge all the packages relevant to ceilometer and install it again in your controller node. Controller should contain ceilometer api server and metric collector, compute node should have agent to get the metrics from hosts which will be pushed to collector service.

Best Regards,

Those kind of errors occur sometimes and it's very useful to know how to detect and solve them as quick as quick as possible. If you find it too troubling just be sure it is important to do it and you can always try using some programs like checkmarx or others to help you. Wish you well.

just followed by the guide and got same error... did you resolve this?

EDIT: Newton guide is not complete, it doesn't explain how to install and configure gnocchi. https://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/install-guide-ubuntu/ceilometer-install.html (https://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/ins...) this is guide for mitaka where you use mongodb for celiometer. Just tried that and celiometer works for now.
