virtual Compute node (cent os) on ESX hypervisor as VM

I have installed 'RDO Havana' neutron enabled all in one with following configuration.

ESX5.0 -> centos 6.4 (single NIC) -> RDO havana (compute node is a virtual machine residing on ESX server.)

After creating a external n/w and adding the floating IPs to the cirros instance found that, from compute node i can ping and ssh instance and instance can ping the compute node IP but not external gateway IP or internet.

DO I need to put ESX hypervisor in promiscuous mode to made this work..? Do this kind of configuration is possible or I need to use bare metal compute node in case of single NIC.?

Thanks. Mihtun

problem solved..!

As compute node itself is a virtual machine residing on ESX server need to enable promiscuous mode on Esxi virtual switch.

Hi Mithun,

Will you please share your answer file for this case? I'm also planning to set up a similar environment as you.

Also can you please show me the steps/commands for how did you launch your first VM after RDO install finished?

Steps to be followed to make it run: 1.Install open stack RDO with neutron enabled. 2.Create ifcfg-br-ex interface on compute node/neutron node: 3.If your open stack server (compute node/neutron node) is VM in ESXi set the promiscuous mode on ESX vSwitch.
