How to use Rackspace storage with private cloud

This question is based on four situations 1. The law here requires the company server(s) to be located inside the country 2. The vendors are taking advantage selling oversized servers and extrondiarly large desktop machines(to the point of bankrupting some companies) 3. Backup and Disaster infrastructure cannot be implemented on the disasters created in two above 4. Internation internet access is not consistent enough to use external servers for primary use, replication to secondary servers not being time critical will be a great service.

Basically is it possible to build a private cloud that includes AWS or Rackspace storage in the storage ring so that automatic replication and transparent availability is accomplished. (bending the words in the law above (1.) about "other" sites) Same goes for compute nodes... And then reducing the "local" part of the private cloud to a single or dual node......

Can you be more specific about what sort of storage you're talking about, block or object storage?

Are you asking if it is possible to include AWS or Rackspace storage servers in your own privately hosted swift cluster by including their servers in your object ring? If so, I am not sure if Rackspace supports it but you should talk to a Rackspace engineer, it is not a common configuration but it is possible, costly but possible.
