Rename openstack instance

Hi,

Is there any API to rename an existing openstack instance by id ?

You mean you want to change the name of an instance that you identify by its ID? Try update server.

If you mean that you want to change its ID - I am 99% certain this is not possible.

Hi Bernd,

Thanks for the response. I tried your suggestion. It just updates the name of the instance. I am looking to change the fqdn and hostname itself.

You want DNS resolution. Internal DNS is easy; external requires setup of DNSaaS. The guide shows the required CLI commands; I suppose you can use port creation or port update APIs to achieve the same thing.
