Hi

1.we upload an image with a raw format, 2. then select Disk format (in horizon) qcow2, till now we have a raw or qcow2 image in glance storage backend? 3.My default nova Config parameter is force_raw_images, so 1&2 does not matter and Nova creates a raw image on the compute node? if yes, what is my disk and image format (num1 &2) ? they are not important?

thanks

Your image is raw, and you specify qcow2 when uploading it to Glance? If you do that, the backend contains your raw image. The catalog however says "qcow2", and I don't think you can launch an instance from this image.

Question 3: As I said in my other post, by default a raw image is created on the compute host, plus a qcow2 image that uses the raw image as backing store. The instance runs from the qcow2 image. This saves disk space, as all other instances that use the same image share the backing store.

So, to answer your question "final image format is raw or Qcow2?": Both.
