I assume you have a management network, a network for VMs' traffic and an external or public network. This is a standard topology described in openstack docs. If you're gonna get connected from your desktop to any of your existing VMs, you need to do that through your external network. This external network (the physical one not the virtual one) is connected to your controller and your network node(s). So, if you can get your desktop connected to this external network, then you can easily access your VM's through your external network. In fact, you just create a bridge from your desktop to your external network and the openstack takes care of the rest (if your other configuration such as VNC is correct). Just do not forget to set desired configuration in your security group(s) in order to allow legitimate traffic reach your VMs from your desktop.
