Hi All,

Please let me know the procedure to move glance from controller to another host without data (images, snapshots, database entries etc..) loss in mitaka version.

Appreciate your help.

Moving the data depends on the store you configured.

Otherwise, at a high level you need to install programs and config files at the destination host and adapt the nova and cinder config and the service catalog. Not sure if other parts of OpenStack use Glance.

Why does a December question suddenly pop up in March?

1) Follow the glance installation steps in your new glance node starting from "Install and configure components" from the below link https://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/ins...

2) Skip the DB / glance service creation part.

3) Create the new ENDPOINT for the glance service pointing to your new glance node IP / hostname.

4) Delete the old glance endpoint.

5) Run glance-manage db_sync

IMPORTANT: Always backup! Before migrating the glance service. Copy the glance dir manually from /var/lib/glance dir. In the worst case, we could upload a new image with the available disk in this directory. also Backup the glance DB.

Thanks,

In your new node, install the desired OpenStack release with the suitable set of Glance configurations. You can then perform data migrations as described in:

https://github.com/openstack/glance/blob/master/doc/source/db.rst (https://github.com/openstack/glance/b...)

Also refer to https://github.com/openstack/glance/blob/master/doc/source/rollingupgrades.rst (https://github.com/openstack/glance/b...) if you intend to upgrade to a newer release.

Depending on the store you are using for Glance, you will have to make the image files available accordingly.
