Hi, Which container format can be used for a pre-populated image say hortonworks image that has preloaded data in it ? OVF or bare? I have this doubt because bare container format means the image doesnt have container or metadata.

I am wondering if using bare for hdp image makes it useless

AFAIU, it is safe to specify bare as the container format if unsure (as Image service & other OS projects do not support container format - refer [1]). If you have a single unarchived file, then you simple have a disk image (without any OVF metadata), which means container format is bare. For more clarity refer [2].

I have a single qcow2 image. So I can continue with bare right?

Yes, you can use bare.
