This is my second time I am trying to install OS via devstack. The UI is working but on the command-line I cannot run most openstack commands:

 $ openstack service list
__init__() got an unexpected keyword argument 'project_name'

This question is the same that: openstack client: "__init__() got an unexpected keyword argument 'project_name'"

The answer for this is: The problem is a bug in the python-openstackclient project: https://bugs.launchpad.net/python-openstackclient/+bug/1650026 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/python-ope...). The last comment in the bug was: "This issue was fixed in the openstack/python-openstackclient 3.8.0 release".

I had to set these environment variables to make the CLI work:

OS_PROJECT_DOMAIN_ID=default
OS_REGION_NAME=RegionOne
OS_USER_DOMAIN_ID=default
OS_PROJECT_NAME=demo
OS_IDENTITY_API_VERSION=3
OS_PASSWORD=secret
OS_AUTH_URL=http://127.0.0.1:5000/v3
OS_USERNAME=admin
OS_TENANT_NAME=admin
OS_VOLUME_API_VERSION=2
OS_NO_CACHE=1
