a) Further investigation leads me to believe that this is not possible, you CANNOT specify the instance source boot through the JSON request... but I need to make sure. Does anybody know?

If indeed there is no API for this feature, the documentation should note this ( either in api.openstack.org, or docs.openstack.org ) and not let integrators wonder endlessly through the documentation and try out every single possible request only to find out it cannot be done.

b) also ... regarding the second question, on Havana the JSON request MUST contain the "imageRef" attribute . Launching the instance from the interface doesn't necessarily make the user enter an image as reference. It can be a volume or snapshot instead.

Am I missing something or is this a severe(ish) defect ?
